1. What is Black Tie?
Black Tie events are typically evening parties held after 6 PM, including formal banquets such as balls, weddings, memorial services, dances, private golf/tennis club gatherings, opera performances, or simply an intimate dinner with a high-ranking official or dignitary.
For Black Tie events, the dress code is a tuxedo, necessarily black or dark blue, with a few exceptions allowing cream – depending on the host. Black is chosen for its politeness, formality, dignified appearance, and especially its timeless appeal in fashion. It's also a coincidence that the black tuxedo of a man serves as a backdrop for the vibrant dresses of his female companions.

2. Standard Dress Code for Black Tie Events
What is a Black Tie dress code? UNLIM will help gentlemen answer that question in the "Standard Dress Code for Black Tie Events" section below:
A standard suit for a Black Tie event (black bow tie) includes:
2.1. JACKET
A Tuxedo Jacket, also known as a Dinner Jacket, is the outerwear worn at Black Tie events. The lapels of the jacket are always covered with high-quality glossy satin combined with a Peak Lapel or Shawl Lapel design. This gives gentlemen a striking yet elegant and refined look at dimly lit parties.
The standard colors for a Black Tie Dinner Jacket are black and dark blue. However, later on, the color options became much more diverse.
(The jacket in a black bow tie event is always covered in a glossy satin material.)
2.2. TROUSERS
Unlike other dress trousers, the side of the tuxedo trousers will feature a glossy stripe made from the same high-quality satin material used for the lapels of the outer jacket.
Tuxedo trousers and jackets are usually made in the same color and material. For dinner jackets with more distinctive colors, they can be paired with black trousers.
2.3. SHIRT
A white pleated shirt is always the top choice for this special Black Tie occasion. Wing collars with studs and the most luxurious cufflinks are details commonly found in high-class tuxedo suits. However, gentlemen can now change and choose other details on their shirts.
Regarding the collar, as long as it's a minimalist style without many details, it will be perfectly suitable. Besides the button-down shirt design shown above, the hidden-button placket design is also increasingly appearing in formal attire for Black Tie events. Cufflinks and the white color of the shirt are indispensable details in a dignified and elegant tuxedo.

2.5. ACCESSORIES
2.5.1 BOW TIE
A black bow tie is an essential accessory for a sophisticated Black Tie event. To enhance the perfection of a tuxedo for this special occasion, gentlemen should use a self-tied black bow tie made of the same glossy satin fabric as the lapel of the jacket and the trim on the trousers. Wearing a tie or any other type of bow tie besides black is something that any gentleman should avoid at a black tie event.
2.5.2 CUMMERBUND
A cummerbund – a tuxedo belt – is an indispensable accessory for a traditional black tie event outfit. Gentlemen will look more polished and balanced with a tuxedo belt in the same material and color as the bow tie.
(A black bow tie and a cummerbund are two essential accessories for attending a Black Tie.)
2.5.3 SOCKS
A Black Tie event demands meticulous attention to detail, so the socks worn with polished black leather shoes must follow certain rules. Gentlemen should wear black socks made of smooth, thin silk to complete the perfect tuxedo.
2.5.4 PANEL KNOT
A pocket square will make a gentleman's tuxedo look more elegant than ever. Avoid elaborate patterns or bright colors; a neatly folded white pocket square is best.
